Based on our assessment for 2007/08, The Newcastle Upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust provided an excellent quality of service to patients, having made improvements compared with the previous two years. This trust gained foundation status during 2006/07. Foundation trusts are assessed in a different way to other trusts. It has continued to be excellent at managing its finances.
The trust was not one of those chosen to receive an inspection over the summer.
